Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy Brings Home the Oscar!!!

If you were anything like me the minute you heard Sharmeen was nominated for a Oscar, for The Saving Face, you could not wait to see what she would wear and were excited for the opportunity Pakistan had to display their talent on the international level. I was tuned into the red carpet shows the oscars and the after party for just a glimpse of Sharmeen and to see her outfits. The whole show I was glued to the screen to see if Pakistan would bring home their first Oscar and to see the outfit designed by Bunto Kazmi. The embroidered ivory jacket and embroidered black trousers were a hit! Her jewellery by Kiran was also spectacular; I loved the cuff! The after party dress by Sana Safinaz was spectacular, this dress was breathtaking and I would have loved seeing her accepting the award in this dress. Sharmeen was said to have worn female pakistani designers in order to promote the progression of woman in Pakistani society. Sharmeen showed the world the great talent contained in Pakistan through her documentary and apparel. Her dresses and jewellery displayed to the world the rich culture and fashion present in Pakistan. What was even greater than this was her message to the young woman of Pakistan: "To all the women in Pakistan who are working for change, don't give up on your dreams. This is for you.”
