Nomi Ansari at Pantene Bridal Couture Week 2012

Nomi Ansari's collection at Pantene Bridal Couture Week 2012 was remarkable! It was the perfect trousseau for a Pakistani bride. Nomi Ansari reminds us why he is such a popular designer; his use of bright colours and traditional embroideries meshed with beautiful flattering cuts make for gorgeous pieces. But one is left to wonder where Nomi Ansari's designing skills went when he designed the mens pieces! I mean WTF Nomi Ansari I don't know any men who'd wear any of the mens pieces, except for the sherwani's which were slightly less of a brain fart. But he definitely did reclaim his his self with the woman's wear, it was gorgeous! The jewelry was also gorgeous, which makes me wonder who designed the jewelry (Sonar?).  Enjoy the beautiful collection fit for a spring/summer wedding!

Tabassam Mughal at Pantene Bridal Couture Week 2012

Tabassam Mughal Showed her magnificent collection at Pantene Bridal Couture Week, leaving us stunned. I love her very ethnic, dramatic, and traditional approach to designing. In a short amount of time, from the companies inception in 2007, Tabassam Mughal has become style staple for many woman and her clothes are available worldwide. I especially love the multicoloured peacock pishwas (dress) in amazing shades of blues and pinks. I have been waiting to see more of that gold fringe in the first picture, that many of us Pakistanis see in our mothers/grandmothers dowries. I really hope the fringe comes back in fashion, though whether it does or not its going on my duppata's. I love the vibrant silk duppata's with delicate embroidery and fringes in my mothers dowery. Enjoy!

Asifa and Nabeel wow at PSFW and Pantene Bridal Couture Week 2012

Asifa and Nabeel are amazing designers! Their designs are very original and extremely popular. The duo showed their highly commercial designs at Pantene Bridal Couture Week 2012 and PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week. The Bridal/Formal's shown at Pantene Bridal Couture Week were gorgeous I loved the details (especially the holes in the back!). The models looked drop dead gorgeous especially Zeba. I am fostering a strong desire for a piece designed by the duo! I also loved Asifa and Nabeel's more summer/spring oriented semi-formal line showcased at PSFW, the yellows and white flowy pieces in weighted chiffons made for a fresh and summery statement. I am especially crazy about Mehreen syed's number! One of the long embroidered flowy chiffon coats are a style staple I must attain!

Nomi Ansari Lawn 2012

Nomi Ansari has released his lawn for 2012! It's awesome, the colours and bold mix of patterns scream Nomi. Nomi Ansari's lawn ad campaign has been the most refreshing and definitely gets me in the mode for spring! Tooba Siddiqui looks ravishing, she's definitely glowing after her wedding. I love the enchanted garden feel. So who'll be braving it out at exhibitions to get their hands on some of these prints?

And the great video ad!

Umar Sayeed Lawn Spring/Summer 2012

The time for waiting is over Umar Sayeed has released his Lawn for this year yet again adding to the lawn tsunami in Pakistan. For me, this was the most awaited Lawn collection of the season. And boy oh boy has the waiting payed off! The collection is everything you would expect after their great Lawn last year! The colours, prints and silhouettes are amazing. This collection by far is one of my favourites this season! Umar Sayeed always wows with his amazing design, and even more with his prices (that I guess are justifiable given his quality of work). Oh how I wish I was in Pakistan fighting it out at a lawn exhibition for these prints. Since I am not all I can do is lust for these prints, enjoy!

Style Obsession: H&M Lawn Like Looks

Living in the west it's difficult to wear lawn, because it is so cold, although I love the bold patterns and bright colours. Though some H&M pieces for Spring/Summer 2012 have these qualities. The above dress and shirt are absolutely gorgeous and they are in a satin, much better than a lawn in spring/summer in the west. The pieces also have nearly duppatta sized silk like scarves that match the dress and shirt! I cannot wait to get to the closest H&M and find these pieces. The pieces have sleeves as well which just adds to my love of these two pieces. I can see myself pairing them with white skinnies and stilettos. I am so excited for summer!!!

Trendsetters: Humaima Malik and Saba Hamid

Humaima Malik looks ravishing in this Sana Maskatiya Tangerine coloured jumper, representing the film BOL at the London Asian Film Festival. It seems like Sana Maskatiya is becoming a top choice for foreign award shows (after Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's choice to wear the designer to the Oscar Nomination dinner). The jumper is absolutely beautiful with gold button detailing on the shoulder and a gold pattern near the bottom. I commend her on her choice to pair it with a beautiful black shawl, gold clutch, and minimal accessories. She looks elegant and refined. Another leading lady making headlines is Saba Hameed who recieved the Pride of Pakistan award or the Husn-e-Kaarkardigi. Saba Hamid looks gorgeous in that white number(below) excepting her award. I have always loved this silhouette, the long Maxi type shirt with wide legged trousers, as I am tall this look flatters me immensely while being modest. Saba Hamid deserved the award immensely having been in the Pakistani drama and film industry for decades now and for being a wonderful actress all those years. I hope these ladies keep making Pakistan proud.
