"Yeh jo mera outFOOt hai Umar Sayeed ka hai"-Meera

I've been in love with this Umar Sayeed number ever since I've seen it. It has it all, it's over the top, traditional, and modern. As many may have speculated I love the mesh of the traditional with the modern. This dress does it perfectly! And I love the colours as well: the bright pink contrasted with a green. In love with this dress I sent the folks at Umar sayeed a enquiry and was left speechless when I got a number back. PKR 650000, over CAD $7000!!!
I guess for now I'll have to wait untill a event pops up for which spending CAD $7000 on a dress becomes justifiable. But for when I do get it the below is how I would style it.
I'd pair the dress with hot pink louboutins and a hot pink Alexander McQueen clutch, to play up the pop of pink in this dress. For jewelry I would go with large statement earrings and bangles or a cuff on one arm.
For makeup I'd  go with dramatic eyeliner inspired by old bollywood heriones like Sharmila Tagore and Meena Kumari. I'd keep the eye-palette in shimmery golds and greys like in the Chanel pallete above and keep the lips playful but understated with this pink lip gloss from dior. For nails I'd go with the insanely popular Chanel nail colour in 531, peridot. It would go perfectly with the dress. Heres to hoping I'll be ordering this dress in the near future.

Nilofer Shahid 2012

Nilofer Shahid, the fashion ambassador of Pakistan, is by far the best fashion designer in Pakistan. She is a woman of great elegance, taste, and class which is depicted in her clothes. Her clothes have been worn by royalty, celebrities, and socialites. Nilofers clothes definitely exude pure luxury being made in silks from europe with embroideries of real gold thread, pearls, and semiprecious stones.  Below are pictures from her latest campaign. I am once again left speechless by her ability to mesh the past with the present in such an inspiring manner. I'll let her clothes speak for themselves for now, check back soon for a post on Nilofer Shahid, 'The Ramp Empress of Pakistan.'

Ali Xeeshan, the lahore based fashion designer, always produces clothes with a dream-like and fairytale quality. His clothes are always over the top and inspired by lahores rich culture and past. I love this bride in one of his creations. She looks like a princess in this glittering chiffon confection in a beautiful shade of light blue.

Style Obsession: Antique Sahtoosh and Pashmina Shawls

Currently I am obsessed with antique sahtoosh and pashmina shawls. I have always loved the shawls from my mothers trousseau, beautifully embroidered in deep colors and bold patterns. They are the perfect way to top a traditional outfit and a great substitute for a sweater. They are much more elegant and regal compared to a jacket and much more of a style statement compared to a sweater. I love the sentimental feel that antique sahtoosh and pashmina shawls possess. Below are some pictures of antique sahtoosh and pashmina shawls available at Saleem Fabrics.

Another great place to find antique pashmina and sahtoosh shawls is at Maharajas in Islamabad. Below are some pictures of socialite Suhair Khan at Maharajas and some of their gorgeous shawls.
